Shaggy coffee pot pillow
It's been a cold dreary day here with on again off again snow and rain, so I decided to put this pillow cover together with the block I made from Kerry's enamel coffee pot pattern (coffee pot pattern available here in the 'kitchen classics' set).
The shaggy trim was a gift from my dad a few years ago from an estate sale he went to.
When my dad was alive, he was my biggest crafty enabler. I was constantly getting packages of random crafty things in the mail from him and when we'd drive home to Kansas to visit, my husband always rolled his eyes at the growing pile of stuff my dad would put together to send home with me.
So needless to say, this pillow cover has made me smile for many reasons, and that's just what I needed today!!
I hope your weekend was filled with sunshine wherever you are!!

Now that was a wonderful dad! Your pillow is so cute and the fringe just makes it!!
ReplyDeleteThat pillow makes for great memories and a bit of fun- I imagine it shimmying!
Deletethank you Jeannie! I love it when the things I make have a bit of a story behind them!
DeleteI just woke up to dreary, snowy skies too, but your pillow, and your dad-story made me smile! What a gift it is when the people we love "know just" what to pick up for our sewing baskets and art supply stashes! There have been times when my mom and dad have had more faith in me than I did, and it's just a blessing to receive!
ReplyDeleteLove your ichigo-coffee-pot pillow! The fussy cut "original" and the flowers along the spout, the Fringe! Just lovely!
Didn't she do a great job? You must have a great stash too with all those extra gifts!
Delete:) It's the best feeling knowing that our parents believe in us! I just couldn't resist adding the fringe, it is so my dad, quirky and fun!
DeleteWhat a wonderful pillow, that shaggy trim is such fun, gives me a sense of your dad's character too, such a nice touch x
ReplyDeletethank you, K!
DeleteThe pillow is adorable....but he must be drinking decaf...else he wouldn't need the pillow.
ReplyDeletehaha! I didn't even think of that! Don't think he drank much decaf in his life though!
DeletePenny ~ such a lovely story about your Dad and the pillow is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhile my Dad didn't support my crafty habit, when we were out together and I had something on that I made, he say 'My daughter made this (whatever) isn't she talented!'. It would embarrass me (just a little), but it was so wonderful to have him be proud of me!
What a lovely supportive father!
DeleteI know just the feeling! I always felt on display when I was out with my dad. He was always so proud of me that he wanted to "show me off" and although it was embarressing, it's one of those things I look on fondly now!
DeleteHeh, glad I'm not the only one with a dad intent on donating to the crafty cause - last time I was at my parents' I came home with a sheet of marble mosaic tiles - no, not a clue what to do with them!
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't give you a whole load of options! Maybe coaster/ pot stand? Maybe your dad was testing you!
Deletehaha! half of the things my dad would send home with me ending up being donated to our church, but the things I kept were always treasures!
Deletethat is a very special dad...and lovely pillow!
ReplyDeletethank you Jeanne!
DeleteThat's a groovy cushion indeed. What a great Dad x
ReplyDelete(Oooh I have some of that Amy Butler(?) spaceman/poppies fabric... time to use it I think x).
"groovy", I like that description!!
DeleteYes, that's one of the few AB prints that I really like!
